A recent American College of Cardiology survey of physician assistants who identified as specializing in cardiology shows an increase in the number of PAs practicing cardiology within the last five years with the majority practicing general cardiology.
Results indicate that the most common cardiology practice setting for PAs is in a group practice setting, followed by hospital-based practices.
Additionally, the survey found that the most common clinical service provided by PAs was coronary artery disease, closely followed by hypertensive heart disease (91 percent) and heart failure (90 percent).
