ARC-PA: 181 PA Programs Now Accredited

Students in GWU PA Program ClassThis week, the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) reported that there are now 181 accredited entry-level PA programs in the U.S.

Programs awarded provisional accreditation status include:

  • Boston University
  • Eastern Michigan University
  • University of Missouri-Kansas City
  • Gardner-Webb University
  • Monmouth University
  • Lake Erie College
  • Pennsylvania State University
  • Johnson and Wales University
  • University of Tennessee

For more information on the accreditation process, and to see a list of all accredited programs, visit ARC-PA’s site. The Physician Assistant Education Association’s website (PAEA) also has a comprehensive, searchable directory of all PA programs.

ARC-PA is an independent accrediting body that protects the interests of the public and the physician assistant profession by defining the standards for physician assistant education and evaluating PA educational programs within the territorial United States to ensure their compliance with those standards. It also periodically reviews schools’ compliance with standards after accreditation.
